Congregational News and Notes
Welcome to worship on this Lord’s Day. Today is preparatory Sunday in anticipation of celebrating the Lord’s Supper next Sunday morning. This evening we continue our study of “Remarkable Prayers” noting a prayer of the Apostle Paul for a deeper walk with God.
Next Sunday the offering will be for the repairing of the parking lot.
The Building and Grounds committee are taking bids for janitor and bids for lawn mowing for 2011. Bids must be in by October 1, 2010. Bids can be given to one of the deacons.
Give thanks that Donna Van’t Hul’s surgery went well on Thursday.

The GEMS season has started and several girls have requested help paying their $20 dues. If you would like to sponsor a GEM, please contact Sheri Tinklenberg or Lenae Scholten.
The Dorcas Society will be beginning on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. All ladies are welcome to this time of study and fellowship. Pastor Tim will be leading a study on the book of Philippians.
Women’s Fellowship will be starting on Wednesday, September 22 at 6:30 pm. We will be studying Esther by Beth Moore this year. If anyone would like to join us, contact Von Blom or Wil Kas so we can order books.

Come out for the Great Labor Day Pancake Breakfast tomorrow morning at SWCH. Circle #2 will be serving pancakes, sausages, juice, coffee, and milk from 7-11 a.m. All you can eat. Freewill offering.
The board of SWCH will meet on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Next Saturday, September 11 there will be an opportunity to gather with other Christians of our community to pray for our nation. The event, called “Cry Out America”, is part of a nation-wide ecumenical prayer movement and will take place at the Courthouse at noon.
Upcoming Classes at ATLAS:
- A Dr. Gary Smalley Marriage Enrichment series will begin Thursday, September 9 at 7 p.m. Classes will be held at the Luverne ATLAS and will run weekly for 6 weeks.
- DivorceCare classes are being offered at ATLAS in Pipestone beginning Tuesday, September 7th at 7 p.m. This class is for individuals who are contemplating or have gone through divorce.

SWCH will be hosting Don and Fran Van Polen as they present their travelogue Backroads and Byways of America in the school gym on Wednesday, September 15 at 7:30 p.m. This photographic journey begins in the tulip fields of Washington State and ends in Boston. Visit scenic and historic places during this entertaining evening that will include amazing stories with an invitation for the audience to join in singing some of America’s heart warming music. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for students.
How much do you know about SWCH Circles? Do you know what fundraisers the Circles have? Do you know what role Circles play at SWCH? To find out more information attend the Annual Circle Meeting to be held September 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Music Room. New mothers to Circle are encouraged to attend to find out what takes place. The goal of Circles is to give moral and financial support to SWCH. We would encourage all members to attend this meeting. It is our prayer that as you become involved in the work of Circles that you will find joy and new friendships but most of all a heart of service toward promoting SWCH.
