                       Congregational News and Notes

This Sunday Morning: We will close out our sermon series that is based on a central theme within the book of Acts, which is the church’s task of witnessing.  The message, based on Acts 9:19b-31, will address one final important aspect of how we must witness.  The message is entitled: How Do I Witness: Live in the Now.

This Sunday Evening:  We will together turn into God’s word and focus our attention on Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:31-46.  Instead of seeing what Jesus says about what will happen before He comes, we will examine what Jesus says will happen after He comes.  The message is entitled If I Were a Steak . . .

Next Sunday:  We welcome Rev. Carl Klompien, a retired minister who now resides in Hull, Iowa, to our pulpit as he will lead us in worship and the Word.  Rev. Brad and Melanie Meinders will be on vacation in Alaska, enjoying a cruise that he received through KNWC because you expressed your appreciation of them.

Jan Veltkamp underwent esophagus surgery on Monday and returned home on Tuesday.  We thank the LORD for providing safety during surgery and we ask that now He provides her with healing as she recovers at home!

Kelsey Schiebout will be leaving this week for the Youth Unlimited Convention in Bozeman, MT, which takes place during the dates of July 25-29.  Please pray that she may be challenged and equipped in her faith as she worships and hears God’s Word along with other young people from the United States and Canada!

Laura Kooiman has a new phone number:  see printed bulletin

Thank you to the congregation for your appreciation of me and my family that was expressed through the receiving of a cruise to Alaska.  Melanie and I truly look forward to our trip as we expect to witness the glory of God through His creation and through times of worship on the cruise.  We are extremely thankful to God for you and for the years that God has given us with you!  You are our dear friends in Christ.  -  Pastor Brad & Melanie Meinders

Would you be interested in personally providing a Bible for someone who is seeking Christ?  You have an opportunity to do this at the Minn-ia-kota Retreat sponsored by the Bible League Volunteers on September 9 and 10, at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, IA.  Our theme this year is “People Need God’s Word – Bold Vision”.  Our featured speaker, Lael Arrington’s mission is to move not just minds, but hearts for Christ.  She co-hosts a unique radio talk show that examines the evidence for our deepest beliefs and has been heard on Family Life Today, At Home Live!, Moody’s Mid-Day Connection, and dozens others.  All men are encouraged to attend the special men’s session where they will be able to interact with the Bible League’s Vice President of Africa Ministries, Joseph Owens.  Come for the men’s session and stay for the banquet and concert.  See brochure (in your mailbox last week) for costs for the banquet.

Prayer Request From the Back to God Hour:  Praise God for the distribution of 2,036 radios to families who live in poor, remote areas of Indonesia.  They now have access to the Gospel through BTGH radio programs.  Please pray for the local coordinators who were trained to follow up with the people who received the radios.

Weekly Memory Verse

“God has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish” (Colossians 1:22).
